Welcome to the Center for Integrative Omics and Precision Medicine homepage
With rapid development of genomic analysis technology, obtaining large-scale genomic data has become easier, leading to an increased global interest in accurate utilization of such amassed data. In addition to precision medicine fast becoming a significant field of study, collaborations with a shifted focus on multiomics/multi-approach based research became more active around 2015, when PMI (Precision Medicine Initiative) in USA was announced. Biomarker discovery research, the foundation of precision medicine, has received much spotlight as latest improvements in analytic methods have allowed biomarker research to be utilized in overcoming numerous diseases, thus accentuating a critical need to further develop related technologies.
However, as there are real-life difficulties in establishing cohorts for targeted diseases, collaboration between hospitals that carry bulk clinical data and research organizations with the capacity to analyse generated genomic data to form a specialised and systematic research hub is essential.
The Center for Integrative Omics and Precision Medicine was launched in 2017 as part of the bio-medical technology development project supervised by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The center aims to develop a deep learning-based analysis platform to identify specific markers in colorectal cancer for use in diagnosis/prognostics/treatment effect predictive diagnosis panel, followed by establishment of business model and its commercialization.
With the goal of establishing an efficient business model, the center will cooperate with hospitals and IT companies to build an effective system to generate and manage multi-genomics data from tumour/normal samples, and also strive to contribute to the national bio-industry as a major research-business hub in the precision medical technology field.
